Mental Health First Aid Training

At The Mind Field, Inc., we are proud to offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training as part of our commitment to expanding mental health awareness and access within minority communities. Our goal is to equip everyday community members, educators, professionals, and caregivers with the tools they need to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges.

What Is Mental Health First Aid?

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based, internationally recognized certification course that teaches participants how to:

  • Identify common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges

  • Approach and support someone experiencing a crisis or developing a mental health concern

  • Offer initial help using the ALGEE action plan

  • Connect individuals with appropriate professional services and self-help resources

  • Reduce stigma through increased knowledge and confidence

This training is designed for anyone, regardless of prior experience, who wants to build practical, culturally aware skills to support the well-being of others.

The C.A.R.E. Line

The C.A.R.E. Line was created out of a clear and urgent need within our community: people were struggling in silence, unsure where to turn, and unable to access trusted support in their most vulnerable moments. At The Mind Field, Inc., we recognized that timely connection can be the difference between isolation and intervention, so we developed a way to bridge that gap.

The C.A.R.E. Line serves as a direct link to culturally aware support, connecting individuals with a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a trained Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) responder (better known as a C.A.R.E. Advocate) who can listen, guide, and provide immediate next steps. Whether someone is experiencing emotional distress, early signs of a mental health challenge, or a moment of crisis, the CARE Line ensures that help is accessible, compassionate, and responsive.
Built with intention and grounded in community need, the CARE Line exists to:

  • Offer real-time support during moments of overwhelm

  • Help individuals feel seen, heard, and supported

  • Connect callers to appropriate mental health resources

  • Reduce barriers to care, especially within minority and underserved communities

  • Provide early intervention before situations escalate

The CARE Line reflects our mission: to meet our community where they are and defuse the stigma of mental health in minority communities.
